Smoothing the way for kids in foster care





Daniel H. Hughes, Ph.D., will lead a workshop, "Facilitating Emotional Attachment: The Road to Emotional Recovery and Behavioral Change in Foster and Adoptive Care," from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., Feb. 28 in the Moorpark College Campus Center, 7075 Campus Road, Moorpark. Pre-registration is required by Wed., Feb. 25 and may be made by calling Carol Howell at (805) 378-1400, ext. 1891. The workshop is presented free of charge.


Hughes is a therapist and author of "Building Bonds of Attachment." During the workshop, he will explain the consequences and effects of inadequate levels of attachment. He’ll also describe techniques that may help parents and caregivers facilitate attachment with the children in their care and will illustrate how developing attachment gives children the chance to adequately pursue happiness and success.
