Curriculum should be ‘age-appropriate,’ law says

California’s new health education guidelines— which include age-appropriate lessons about sex— were approved by the state’s board of education in May and will introduce children to concepts such as gender identity, contraception and healthy sexual practices.

While the state provides a guideline for the sex education, as it does for all subjects, school districts are not required to follow the state’s framework
