Marine Corps Pvt. Fredy J. Argueta, son of Dinora D. Argueta of Thousand Oaks, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.


Argueta is a 2000 graduate of Westlake High School.


Marine Corps Pfc. Stephanie S. Kinzel, daughter of Sue A. Rayburn of Huntington Beach and Robert F. Kinzel of Thousand Oaks, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.


Kinzel is a 2000 graduate of Agoura High School.


Marine Corps Pvt. Charles P. Knight, II, a 2001 graduate of Westlake High School, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.


Air Force Airman Nicholas P. Paster has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Tex.


Paster is the son of Gary and Deborah Paster of Oak Park.


Army Spec. Megan J. Keller has graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo.


Keller is the daughter of Lee M. Keller of Agoura Hills.


She’s a 1995 graduate of Agoura High School and a 2001 graduate of San Francisco State University.


Army Spec. Carl K. Knighton has arrived for duty at the Vilseck-Grafenwoehr Military Community in Germany.


Knighton is a unit supply specialist assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry.


He’s the son of Louis W. Siemering of Northridge and Sharon A. Siemering of Westlake Village.


Marine Corps 1st Lt. Douglas W. Burkman, a 1982 graduate of Agoura High School, recently returned from a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom while assigned to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based in Camp Pendleton, Calif.


Burkman’s unit was one of the first conventional American ground forces deployed to Afghanistan. They conducted offensive raids against Taliban and Al-Qaeda forces and secured the Kandahar International Airport.


Burkman’s unit is an expeditionary intervention force with the ability to rapidly organize for combat operations in virtually any environment.
