Seniors can stay fit with classes offered by Agoura Hills





The city of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services Senior Recreation Program is offering a series of classes to help adults ages 50 and up stay fit.


Unless noted otherwise classes are at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd. and will run through Sept. 8.


For a $12 annual registration fee, community residents ages 50 and up may participate in any classes offered through the Senior Recreation Program. Participants may enroll in any classes, activities, special events and excursions offered by the Senior Recreation Program. "Body Dynamics for Seniors." This exercise program is recommended for individuals who are sedentary, unfamiliar with exercise, intimidated by exercise and/or entering post-rehabilitation programs. Classes are from 2 to 3 p.m. every Monday and Friday. The fee for a six-week session is $21 for once per week, $35 for twice per week.


"Yoga for Seniors." Participants (who must bring their own mat to class) may enhance health, vitality and flexibility by learning stretches and breathing techniques. This ongoing class runs from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The fee for a 10-week course is $21 (once per week), $35 (twice) or $45 (three times per week).


"Tai Chai for Seniors." This is an exercise program that may help to facilitate balance, posture and reduce stress. Its slow movements help keep muscles toned and supple with joint flexibility. Classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays. An intermediate class will be from 9 to 10 a.m. and a beginning class from 10 to 11 a.m. at Reyes Adobe Park, 30400 Rainbow Crest Drive, Agoura Hills. Class fee is $25 (once per week), $35 (twice per week).
