Senior Fest to explore the road to living well

Workshops to focus on spirituality and Alzheimer’s


California Lutheran University will present Senior Fest 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wed., Jan. 12 in Samuelson Chapel on the Thousand Oaks campus.

The theme is “Living Well in Christ at Any Pace with Laughter, Joy, Tears, Transition and Celebration.” Senior Fest brings Lutheran adults together for learning, devotions and fellowship to enhance their physical, spiritual, social and intellectual lives.

The Rev. Dick Hardel, former executive director of the Youth and Family Institute in Minnesota, will give the keynote address. He served as a Lutheran pastor for more than 20 years and as assistant to the bishop in the Nebraska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America for three years.

Senior Fest will include lunch and several workshops. Presenters include CLU faculty members Paul Egertson of the religion department and Michael Arndt of the theatre arts department. Nancy Gordon, director of the California Lutheran Homes Center for Spirituality and Aging, will lead workshops on Alzheimer’s disease and spiritual practices for the aging.

Registration is $25 prior to Jan. 5 and $30 after that date.
