Senior Concerns schedules boutique, fashion show

The Senior Concerns Bargain Boutique & Thrift Shop will host its annual fundraising holiday boutique, fashion show and luncheon on Sat., Nov. 20 at the Senior Concerns Adult Day Center, 401 Hodencamp Road in Thousand Oaks.

A large inventory of discounted Christmas season merchandise will be on sale at 10 a.m. for those with tickets to the noon luncheon catered by Gelson’s. The event also will feature opportunity drawings, door prizes, entertainment and Bargain Boutique fashions modeled by Thrift Shop staff and volunteers.

"Our inventory of donated merchandise for sale at the event will include new toys, collectibles, stuffed animals, gift items, seasonal ornaments and holiday cards," said Frances Prince, interim manager.

Although most of the Bargain Boutique’s inventory is donated by private individuals, a portion of its discounted merchandise is new and is provided by overstocked retailers and merchants turning over their own inventories.

Tickets at $30 per person are available at the Adult Day Center and the Thrift Shop at the rear of the Human Services building, 80 E. Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks.

The Bargain Boutique & Thrift Shop is a major source of operating revenue for the nonprofit agency Senior Concerns. The social services provider is in its 29th year of operation offering quality-of-life programs for western Los Angeles and Ventura county seniors with special needs and educational services for their family caregivers.

Senior Concerns activities include its Adult Day Center for memory-impaired and the frail elderly, the area’s Meals on Wheels program, Ventura County’s Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center, the Financial Abuse Specialist Team protecting vulnerable Ventura County seniors from fraud and scams and the Senior Advocates information and referral program.
