Senior Concerns in T.O. seeks volunteers for Adult Day Program

Senior Concerns in Thousand Oaks is seeking volunteers to help in the Adult Day Program.

Volunteers are needed to help organize activities such as crafts, gardening groups, musical performances and hands-on games, as well as provide general support for the staff.

Volunteers should be able to make a one-year commitment and work at least two hours per week.

The Adult Day Program, the only program of its type in eastern Ventura County, encourages well-being, socialization and the highest level of functioning for special need seniors—persons with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, frailty and other debilitating conditions.

Through the program, family caregivers are afforded respite, enabling them to take care of their own personal needs and reduce stress.

The Adult Day Program provides three levels of care. “Fun Seekers” is provided for highfunctioning yet frail seniors or persons with early dementia diagnosis.

The “Fitzgerald Program” is offered for more moderately impaired older adults, and the “Friendship Dementia Care Program” is for those with moderateto late stage dementia.
