Seminar on treatments for brain tumors




The Cancer Support Community Valley/ Ventura/ Santa Barbara will host a free seminar titled “Treatment of Adult Brain Tumors” with Kofi Kessey, MD, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thurs., Feb. 7 at 530 Hampshire Road, Westlake Village.

Kessey will answer questions and discuss the most important things for brain tumor patients to know when first diagnosed, the latest research on causes of brain tumors and what patients can expect in terms of side effects.

In addition, he will talk about the most recent treatment options, symptom management and after-surgery options.

The physician earned a doctorate in neuroscience from Northwestern University in Illinois and completed a residency at Emory University’s School of Medicine in Atlanta. He also trained at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles with Dr. Keith Black.

Kessey is a neurosurgeon with a practice in Westlake Village. Besides treating brain disorders and performing surgery, he also works in the Los Robles Hospital Neuroscience Gamma Knife Center in Thousand Oaks.

The Brain Tumor Networking Group meets monthly to provide support and information to people with brain tumors and their family members. The group meets the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
