Joe Ruby“Scooby Doo” has been a childhood staple for more than half-a-century—the easily frightened Great Dane and his four friends have been solving mysteries since 1969 when the animated series debuted on American television. One of the show’s key creators, Joe Ruby, died at his home in Westlake Village on Aug. 26.
Ruby, 87, died due to complications from a fall, his family said.
