Science projectfinds new role for plastic

ANCHORS AWAY—Rocky Caruso paddles a homemade pontoon boat made from recycled bottles which was part of a Medea Creek Middle School Idea 2 Impact science project. Other members of Rocky’s team were Magnus Canty, Jackson Dunn and Simon Vuillaume. The students worked on their project, dubbed “message in a bottle,” since November as a way to encourage innovative thinking about plastic waste and what it is doing to ocean life.
