School is not all that it seems

The letter to The Acorn written by Louis Masry regarding the Heschel school project was not truthful.

How can Heschel school bring more business to Agoura? The students who attend the school come from three different counties. These parents will flood the freeway, rushing to deposit and retrieve their children, causing increased traffic to the 101 Freeway and congestion to Driver Avenue.

Masry states “the school will increase property values.” Numerous Realtors signed a petition to the contrary and testified during public hearings that it will decrease the value of Old Agoura which is an equestrian community without street lights or sidewalks. I know this for a fact because I have practiced real estate locally for over 30 years.

To better understand what the residents of Old Agoura are so angry about, I invite you to log onto the city of Agoura Hills webside, City Council meeting of Nov. 12 and view agenda item 8. The City Council members all stated that they oppose a project in that location and, with the exception of Dennis Weber who voted against, stated that they only voted to make a deal with the county because they are being financially blackmailed by Zev Yaroslavsky.

The site for this project is visible from the 101 Freeway at Chesebro just behind the split rail fencing where you see horses grazing on the hill. The financial burden for fighting this project should not be just on the residents of Agoura who are trying to preserve the tranquility of the property and reduce congestion on the streets and freeways. It is unnecessary at this time to widen the Chesebro overpass and add traffic signals.
