School crossing guards can fall down on the job

Regarding your article on crossing guards in the March 19 issue, the benefit of the doubt always seems to go to the guard. The assumption is the motorist is at fault. But giving someone a stop sign and yellow vest doesn’t necessarily endow them with any sense of safety in managing a busy intersection with our children’s lives at stake.
