School aide was an asset

School aide
was an asset

About three weeks ago, Agoura experienced the death of a dear woman named Mrs. Asher.

This woman not only touched the lives of the local parents, but also touched the hearts of many students at Yerba Buena Elementary School. Her dedication as a yard aide on the school’s playground was truly amazing. She not only protected the students and looked over them, but she became their friend.

When you had a problem, she was always there to listen. I know for me, personally, she was always there. Even when I graduated and moved on to Lindero Canyon Middle School, she was always still there to assist in friend problems or allow me to take a break from society with her soothing voice.

For a lot of families here in Agoura Hills, she has been there for their children. Made sure they were safe and happy.

But what a lot of parents don’t know is that she wasn’t only there during their years at Yerba Buena, she was there when they moved on to middle school, high school and college.

While your children were out during recess playing around, she was the yard aide who would give out candy or help you when you hurt yourself, but she was also the yard aide who would send you to the "wall" if you were misbehaving.

Her love and compassion for all the students was what made her unique. With her warm smile and mother’s touch, Mrs. Asher became a big part in the students’ lives. Mrs. Asher is truly unforgettable and it’s unfortunate that future generations won’t be able to experience her.

Mrs. Asher, we will all truly miss you.
