Satwiwa center premieres documentary, exhibit

Apache artist to discuss his work


The National Park Service will screen a short documentary film about the art of Cahuilla Apache Artist Billy Warsoldier at 10 a.m. Sun., Jan. 23 at the Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center at Lynn Road and Via Goleta, Newbury Park.

After the film premiere, the artist will be available until noon to discuss his art and answer questions from the public.

From 1 to 3 p.m., Warsoldier will host the opening of an exhibit of his work at the culture center.

Warsoldier uses an abstract expressionist technique of creating oil paintings with palette knives. His work explores themes related to wilderness and introspection.
