Satirist to perform

Satirist Roy Zimmerman will present “Live From the Starving Ear,” his one-man show of songs and humorous commentary on such topics as the tea party, creationism, guns, taxes and Barack Obama, from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Sat., June 11 at the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Community Forum, 3327 Old Conejo Road, Newbury Park.

The San Francisco humorist has been writing satirical songs about war, poverty and bigotry for 20 years. He has played at clubs across the country and shared the stage with Bill Maher, George Carlin, Dennis Miller and Sandra Tsing Loh.

His latest CD, “Roy Zimmerman, Real American,” addresses the Wall Street bailout with his song, “Buddy, Can You Spare a Trillion Dollars.”

Earlier albums are a post 9/11 twin CD release, “Homeland” and “Security,” “Faulty Intelligence,” “Comic Sutra” and a holidaythemed “PeaceNick.”

A donation of $15 is suggested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. For information, call (805) 374-9818 or visit http://forum. cvuuf.org.
