If you have any interest in classic cars, then an event this Saturday at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks should make your year.

Mary Health of the Sick convalescent hospital in Newbury Park is a non-profit, non-sectarian hospital owned and operated by The Sisters, Servants of Mary. It is their love and dedication, which is reflected in the quality of life given to all the residents of Mary Health.

A gala fundraiser is taking place on Saturday, October 20 at 5.30 p.m. at Sherwood Country Club, 323 West Stafford Road in Thousand Oaks.

The theme of the event is the history of the motor car industry. As well as a silent auction with classic car memorabilia there will be a display of some of the most remarkable cars ever made. Included is a 1930 Cadillac V-16 Sport Phaeton, a 1933 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Coupe, a Ford Model A and a 1934 Packard, plus many others.

All the cars are owned by supporters of the event, and marks the first time that such a selection of classic cars have been brought together locally. Cars like these are usually seen in a museum and this is a chance to see them where they belong; on the road.

The highlight of the silent auction is a 2001 BMW Z3 Roadster, the James Bond car, supplied by Rusnak Westlake.
