Rural housefire possibly drug-related

Three young men suffered severe burns in a house fire just south of Calabasas Monday afternoon.

The fire began at about 5 p.m. in the 600 block of Crater Camp Drive in the Monte Nido neighborhood and was extinguished within an hour, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The three victims, ages 20, 22 and 24, reportedly ran out of the single family home in their undergarments. They suffered second- and third-degree burns.

Two people were airlifted to the hospital while the third was taken via ambulance.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but sheriff’s narcotic units were called to investigate the scene as the blaze might have been drug related, said Sgt. Dan Nagelmann of the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.
