Robert ‘Bob’ Ross

Passionate, loving, caring, fastidious, disciplined, loyal, big hearted and a much bigger laugh and not afraid to voice his opinion. These are just a few words to describe him.

This is the story of J. Robert “Bob” Ross. An extraordinary gentleman who was loved, is missed and will always be cherished. Bob lived his life to the fullest. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army’s 96th Infantry “deadeyes” division, having fought in the last and bloodiest battle of World War II, The Battle of Okinawa. He received two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for action battling through the Shuri Line.

He moved to his dream home in Agoura Hills over 35 years ago to retire as a banker. Always active, his jobs went full circle as we recall from his first job as a young boy being a caddy at the local golf course in Carlinville to enjoying his last part time work as a golf marshall at Malibu Gold and County Club.

Bob was born July 29, 1926 in Carlinville, IL, the son of Joseph Paul and Ann Ross. He is survived by his sister Audrey Ross and by his wife Connie and their sons Mike, Dan and Joe (wife Lori Jo), and daughter Joan (with husband Kent Berman). The grandkids are Joanna and Jolie Ross and Stefanie and Jennifer Berman.

Memorial Mass was recently held Sat., Sept. 14 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Westlake Village.
