Rob Reiner to discuss ‘On the Waterfront’





Award-winning actor and filmmaker Rob Reiner will discuss "On the Waterfront," the Academy Award-winning 1954 film starring Marlon Brando, at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Jan. 17 at the Skirball Cultural Center, 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles. His talk is part of "Cinema’s Legacy: How Great Filmmakers Inspire Great Filmmakers," presented by the Skirball and American Film Institute, which features conversations with contemporary filmmakers.


Guests will screen work they credit with inspiring and shaping their art and discuss the great films and film artists who have influenced their careers.


Following the screening, Reiner will participate in a question-and-answer session with film critic Peter Rainier of New York magazine. Reiner is known for his role as "Meathead" on the "All in the Family" television series and made his directorial debut with "This is Spinal Tap" and followed with such films as "Stand By Me" and "The Princess Bride." As a principal and co-founder of Castle Rock Entertainment, he has directed many critically-acclaimed box office hits.
