POWER IN NUMBERS—Residents portray America’s early suffragettes in a program about the women’s voting rights struggle that will be presented at a community forum Dec. 2 in Newbury Park.

The Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Community Forum will present its “Rally for the Vote” program at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Dec. 2 in the Songbird Office Park, 3327 Old Conejo Road, Newbury Park.

The program, created and performed by members of the Thousand Oaks chapter of the American Association of University Women, will revisit when California women won the right to vote 100 years ago, through a constitutional amendment that male voters passed by a slim margin.

Members dressed in period costumes will tell stories of California suffragists, present songs from the movement and offer a staged reading from the play “The Girl From Colorado, or The Conversion of Aunty Suffridge.”

The free program will also pay tribute to voting rights pioneer Susan B. Anthony. Donations will be accepted.
