Regarding Lysik resignation

Regarding the forced resignation of Gary Lysik, it is disheartening to read of the support Mr. Lysik received, and continues to receive, from Councilmembers Gaines and Shapiro.

Lysik hired a family member for an overblown, $50,000 holiday party for city employees, and hired his unqualified son for a well-paying city position.

What more do Gaines and Shapiro need to demonstrate that Lysik needed to go? And now city taxpayers have to pay almost $150,000 in severance pay to this guy.

That alone is galling in these COVID times, when we have millions of hardworking, honest people who have been laid off.

Councilmembers Gaines and Shapiro need to be reminded that ethics and honesty are necessary qualities for the position of city manager.
