Red Cross offers blood donation opportunities




The American Red Cross will set up blood donation opportunities in various cities.

All blood types are needed, especially O, A and B negative. The Red Cross depends on volunteers for 15,000 blood donations every day to meet the needs of patients nationwide. For information, visit www.redcross.org.

A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals age 17, who weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Most donation opportunities will take place from 1 to 7:15 p.m., unless otherwise noted, as follows: Thousand Oaks: Wed., June 17 at Thousand Oaks Inn, 75 W. Thousand Oaks Blvd.; Fri., June 19 at Knolls Apartments, 2544 Vista Wood Circle; Mon., June 22 at Thousand Oaks Inn; Thurs., June 25 from 2:30 to 8:45 p.m. at MB2 Raceway, 1475 Lawrence Drive; and Mon., June 29 at Thousand Oaks Inn.

Camarillo: Mon., June 29 from noon to 6:15 p.m. at the Betty Plotkin Center, 836 Calle Plano Oxnard; and Sun., June 28 from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at Mary Star of the Sea, 463 W. Pleasant Valley; Simi Valley: Tues., June 23 from 8 a.m.to 8:15 p.m. at SV Hospital Adventist Health, 2975 N. Sycamore Drive; and Fri., June 26 at Rancho Santa Suzanna Community Center, 5005-C Los Angeles Ave; and in Ventura on Tues., June 16 at Ventura City Hall, 501 Poli St.
