Reacts strongly to a display of animal trophies

My granddaughter and I had been looking forward to a delicious lunch in a highly recommended restaurant. Indeed, as we entered the establishment we were not disappointed by the lovely displays of nature surrounding the entrance.

After being seated, we turned to look around at the many exhibits that were displayed. But both my granddaughter and I were devastated when we realized we were staring at dozens of dead animal heads and necks that were hung on the walls to decorate the entire restaurant.

My granddaughter began screaming and crying hysterically. I put my head in my hands and wept with silent tears.

Some of the handsome animals that were flaunted were boar, moose, elk, deer, several species of birds, etc.

On the wall just above my seat a large trophy deer head was put on display. I couldn’t help thinking that this incredibly gentle animal must have been loved and mourned by its own family the same as if it was part of a human family. I could imagine its willowy, agile body with long, graceful legs and sturdy hooves running through the woods with pure innocent joy, only to be brutally shot and killed.

How cruel and heartless can any person be to violently stalk an innocent terrified creature who simply wanted to live, and then to chop off parts of its beautiful body.

Murdering another living and feeling creature for a grotesque trophy to display on a wall is beyond shameful. Using a rifle for bragging rights and an ego trophy is not a sport. The animal doesn’t have a chance against a loaded shotgun or rifle. How fair is that?

Hopefully, this article will help to persuade others to voice their indignity against this heartless act of senseless trophy hunting. Surely we are better than that.
