Raptors monitor tree’s welfare



 

There’s a popular local band with the unusual name of “I See Hawks in L.A.” Then again, maybe it’s not so unusual, because we do tend to see a lot of hawks in the skies over Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

The band’s name came to mind after a friend invited me out to her woodsy Calabasas property. A pair of red-tailed hawks had built a nest in her neighbor’s olive tree, but once the four fledglings began to explore the world beyond their crowded nest, they spent most of their time roos...
