Rabid bat buzzes school

A pair of Calabasas High School science teachers acted quickly and decisively to capture and remove a rabid bat that flew onto the campus Jan. 29.
CHS principal C.J. Foss said the baby bat that landed around noon near the classroom of science teacher Kirby Welsh sent students into a frenzy. When Welsh heard the commotion, she moved the students away from the bat and used equipment from her classroom to safely remove the animal, which later tested positive for rabies.
