Put Lowe’s to a vote

Why not let the voters decide what we want done with the remaining open space in Westlake Village?

Mark Rutherford, Susan McSweeney and Robert Slavin are running for reelection. These are the same council members who will give you the inappropriate Dole monster, the Four Seasons Hotel complex, 180,000 square feet of office space and a 160-room Residence Inn.

But wait, that isn’t enough. They want to put a Lowe’s home improvement store that is 168,000 square feet and will include a 31,000 square foot garden center on Russell Ranch Road.

Special interests and big business should not be running our little town. It has to stop before it’s to late. These three incumbents will tell you WLV needs the revenue. Give me a break. What Westlake Village needs in the last remaining open space is ball fields, soccer fields, parks. Why not take all that revenue from Dole, et. al. and build a real park, a place for our kids to play baseball or soccer, or maybe go for a safe walk.

Keep WLV a special place to live. Our kids need a park, not another big box retail. The current city council has no concern for all the congestion this development will have to us unlucky resident who will have to exit and enter the 101 from Lindero.

Let the voters decide these important issues. If these council members will not do it, please someone run who will protect the quality of life of WLV and let the voters make the decision on what to do with the last remaining open space. Someone who will represent the citizens of WLV, not big business.

Let the voters decide. Ron Klamert Westlake Village
