Public invited to sheriff’s open house





The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and the Thousand Oaks Police Department invite citizens of Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley and Moorpark to attend a free Open House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Sat., May 18 at the East Valley Sheriff’s Station, 2101 E. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.


Equipment and personnel from all department units will be on hand, including SWAT, K-9, COPPS (Community Policing), traffic motorcycles, gang detail, DARE, mounted patrol, bomb squad, aviation unit, crime prevention, bicycle patrol, mobile command center and off-road enforcement.


In addition the departments’ volunteer programs, such as the Thousand Oaks Volunteers in Policing (VIPs), Search and Rescue and the Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) will be represented.


Tours of the facility will be available, as will refreshments and food for sale by Sheriff’s Explorer Post 2933. The department’s volunteer units will be providing child fingerprinting at no cost. Information on home security, neighborhood watch, DARE and other programs will also be available.


Citizens are encouraged to bring the entire family (excluding pets) and are welcome to bring cameras to take photographs.
