‘Proud patriot’ label subjective

In the Sept. 9 article concerning the placing of 13 American flags on the pedestrian bridge over the 101, Bryce Viole is described as a “proud patriot.”
Perhaps Mr. Voile gave himself this accolade, in which case this phrase belongs in quotation marks. Otherwise, such subjective language belongs not in a news story but only on an editorial page. Kay DriscollOak Park ...
