Pros and cons of the Jewish eruv

I am unhappy that the city of Agoura Hills recently permitted a new eruv. It is ugly. It can kill birds.

I do not want to cross a religious boundary of any kind to walk to the grocery store.

There will always be a nitpicker who is against something in this world.

The woman who wrote last week’s anti-eruv letter is that sort of person. Her contention is that birds might fly into the wire.

By her logic we should also do away with telephone lines, light lines, telephone poles that birds might fly into, etc. She puts birds flying into wire in a higher category than religious liberty.

We are all entitled to our opinions, but in my opinion she is dead wrong.
