Program covers hereditary cancers

The Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara will host a free workshop on hereditary breast and ovarian cancer support from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sun., May 17 at 530 Hampshire Road, Westlake Village.

The workshop leaders will be Amy Yoffe, licensed clinical social worker, and Brenda Lam and Marlene Cunningham.

This FORCE (Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered) outreach support meeting will discuss the impact of living with a genetic mutation that predisposes individuals to certain hereditary cancers.

The meeting is for those who are interested in connecting with others facing the challenges and decision-making related to hereditary cancers, whether they have not yet been diagnosed with cancer but are at high risk or have already been diagnosed.

Yoffe, Lam and Cunningham are the West Valley/Ventura Outreach Coordinators for FORCE, a national organization aimed at improving the lives of those affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

To register, email Amy at amyoffe@sbcglobal.net or call (818) 439-4560.
