Poster is on display

Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD) recently honored Sharon Levanon, who as a fifth grader at Bay Laurel Elementary School in Calabasas created a water awareness poster that was selected to appear in the 2002 calendar printed by Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). LVMWD purchases all of its drinking water supplies from the MWD.

Appearing as the October 2002 illustration, Levanon’s poster reminds consumers "If you run out of water, you run out of life," and depicts a desert scene with vividly illustrated burnished buttes and cactus. Thousands of these calendars are printed and distributed for water customers throughout the Southland.

Levanon was one of 10 local finalists in LVMWD’s poster contest. She was also a local finalist in 1999.
