MANHUNT—Law enforcement is currently searching The Oaks mall for a man wanted for leading California Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed pursuit.

Law enforcement officers have spent the past hour scouring The Oaks mall in search of a group of men who tried to outrun the California Highway Patrol.

Sometime Monday morning, the Los Angeles County division of the CHP broadcast a bulletin about a car driving erratically near the Grapevine area of the 5 Freeway, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Marta Bugarin said.

Though the car was spotted and pulled over, its driver took off, leading the CHP west on Highway 126 and eventually onto the 101 before pulling off the freeway and into the Thousand Oaks shopping center, she said.

At about 11:45 a.m., the sheriff’s office joined the CHP in searching the mall for three individuals, Bugarin said.

While the mall was not being evacuated at the time, Bugarin said it’s a good idea for people to stay away for now.
