Please vote yes

on Prop. 47

on Prop. 47

I urge your readers to vote Yes on Proposition 47, the statewide School Bond. Prop. 47 is a school bond measure to build new classrooms and make overdue safety repairs to California schools—from kindergarten through college. In Las Virgenes Unified School District alone, $12 million towards the building of our third middle school is dependent upon the passage of this proposition.

Prop. 47 will help improve student achievement and test scores by relieving overcrowding, reducing class sizes and providing a clean, safe place for kids to learn. California has the second most overcrowded classrooms in the country, this in the wealthiest state in the wealthiest country in the world. Prop. 47 will help build some of the 46,000 new classrooms needed in the next five years to relieve overcrowding.

It is because of this tremendous need and the strict accountability that this measure requires that so many respected organizations have endorsed this proposition. Prop. 47 is supported by the California State PTA, the California Teachers Association (CTA), the California Taxpayers Association, the California Chamber of Commerce, the League of Women Voters and our own Las Virgenes Unified School Board.
