Phone service interrupted
Verizon Communications experienced a cut in a major fiber-optic cable at a construction site in Topanga Canyon causing a breakdown of phone service from Malibu to the northern part of Oxnard, including Thousand Oaks and the T.O. portions of Westlake Village from 1:40 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Thousands of homes and businesses lost service, sources said.
