Pavley bill would revive coastal trail completion

State Assemblywoman Fran Pavley has introduced Assembly Concurrent Resolution 20 that will designate the 1,200-mile long California Coastal Trail as an official state trail.

Still only partially complete, the trail "conceptually" travels along the California coast from Oregon to Mexico. Pavley’s resolution also directs the California Coastal Commission and the state Coastal Conservancy to work collaboratively to complete the trail.

California has never granted the trail official status and the state legislature has never taken action to make the completion of the trail a goal. Pavley’s resolution will direct the state of California to work toward the trail’s realization.

Plans call for the trail to pass through many points of interest along the Los Angeles County coast including Leo Carrillo, Malibu Lagoon, Topanga and Will Rogers State Beaches.
