Owl rescued by wildlife center dies

The California Wildlife Center is sad to report that the Great Horned Owl featured in a previous article (Aug. 15 The Acorn) did not recover from his entanglement in fishing line.
The gut line was tightly wrapped around his left wing. After spending five weeks in our ICU on oral and topical antibiotics and pain killers, the bone had suffered irreparable damage and turned necrotic. This beautiful bird was humanely euthanized.
