Overwhelmed by Agoura Village

Agoura Hills, the gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains, is going to go through many changes.

The first planned development, called Cornerstone, has been delayed due to the lack of transparency, inadequate reports and the destruction of the complete knoll to make it look like a parking lot.

Is it a preview of things to come? Will the city and developer maintain the Agoura Village development to be pedestrian friendly, respecting the law of nature, the rolling hills, the unobstructed ridgelines and the beauty of our Santa Monica Mountains?

Will the correct traffic report be up to date and done during rush hour or any other reports according to codes?

It will be our downtown hangout and our last open space. It has to be done right.

A second development called The Ave will bring a 120-room hotel, 118-home residential property, retail, a community area, a walking trail. etc. Will there be enough parking? Oak trees will be removed and transplanted.

If Cornerstone sets a precedent, we all have to stay alert and make sure the next development is going to make us all proud and a destination for all of us to enjoy.

A forum was planned by the developer this week. It was suppose to be an open discussion for concerned citizens to speak out, relay their feelings and give suggestions.

Unfortunately, nothing like this happened. No one was able to speak. The people who did not want controversy regarding this project were probably quite satisfied.

Everyone needs to work in harmony do their job correctly, build according the original plan and respect the needs of the citizens. Only then we can live happily ever after.
