Granada Hills (0-0) at
Calabasas (0-0)

Outlook:
Both programs are coming off 1-9 campaigns, so, barring a tie, somebody’s going to match last year’s win total.

More so than in any recent year, Calabasas’ preseason schedule allows for a fast start. In addition to Granada Hills, the Coyotes play at Hueneme and Channel Islands in the coming weeks. All appear to be winnable games.

Junior QB Kyle Zion will be the key for Calabasas. As a sophomore, Zion threw for 1,468 yards and seven TDs while completing 52.3 percent of his passes.

Head coach Larry Edwards, who returns to lead the team for the first time since 2002, will give his young signal-caller freedom to make plays in the spread offense.

Muir (0-1) at
Oaks Christian (1-0)

Outlook:
The Lions won a tough season opener at Alemany 2817 behind a 277yard threetouchdown performance by senior running back Malcolm Jones.

Muir, meanwhile, lost its opener versus Diamond Ranch, 35-20.

With a deep, talentladen roster, Oaks Christian is expected to make a run at a state bowl bid.

In the latest MaxPreps Xcellent 25 rankings, the Lions were ninth in the nation and second in the state, behind Notre Dame-Sherman Oaks.

OCHS hammered Muir 43-14 in last year’s meeting, and there’s no reason Lion fans shouldn’t expect another 50 points in this tilt. Oaks Christian’s defense had four interceptions in that game.
