Westlake (6-0) at Moorpark (4-2)

Outlook: Westlake continues to steamroll any opponent that crosses its path.

Since a 30-27 season-opening victory at Del Oro, the Warriors have won their first five Marmonte League contests by 63, 32, 45, 22 and 31 points.

Playing at Moorpark, however, always presents a formidable challenge for WHS.

Each of the Musketeers’ two losses have come at home, but those were close defeats against Thousand Oaks ( 27- 24) and St. Bonaventure (28-17).

Slowing down Westlake’s vaunted rushing attack—the Warriors average more than seven yards per carry—will be Moorpark’s top priority.

Expect a nip-and-tuck affair.

Newbury Park (2-4) at Calabasas (1-5)

Outlook: Calabasas scored a season-high 20 points during a Week 6 loss to Moorpark.

After tallying 35 total points in their first five games, the Coyotes have to consider last week’s result a step in the right direction.

Although they were smoked by St. Bonaventure a week ago, Newbury Park continues to get solid contributions from its improved defense and up- andcoming offense.

Panther quarterback Ben Okun is spreading the ball around to a plethora of pass-catchers. Five different NPHS wideouts have at least 10 receptions this season.

In last year’s game at Newbury Park, Calabasas stunned the Panthers, 34-28.

This might be payback time.
