Opposes gated neighborhoods

I am a resident of Agoura Hills and I attend Oak Park High School. I recently read a column in The Acorn about gated neighborhoods in the community. I also share some of the feelings that were expressed in this article.

Gated neighborhoods show that some people are more important than others, that they have more money or power. They also keep other members of the community out, which is exclusion. Whether it is because they are jealous or that they feel left out, at least some people feel this way.

Although the people who live there feel safer, are they really? Is the Conejo Valley really that unsafe that we need gates and guards? I don’t think that it is.

All that (gates) do is say that some people are better than others. Thank you for taking the time to read my opinion.
