The Cancer Support Community Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara will host its National Cancer Survivor’s Day Celebration for cancer survivors from 11 a.m. to noon Sun., June 6 via Zoom.
The guest speaker is Linda Northrup, Agoura Hills council member and cancer survivor.
The event will also have an Easy Summer Smoothie demonstration by Kerri McDonald, RD, clinical nutrition manager of Los Robles Health System, and entertainment.
A special Cancer Support Community tradition, the recognition ceremony, will honor survivors’ years of living with cancer.
There will be a pre-created collage of photos of those holding a sign stating their years as a survivor.
“This day provides an opportunity for all people living with a history of cancer—including America’s more than 16.9 million cancer survivors—to connect with each other, celebrate milestones, and recognize those who have supported them along the way,” says Kayo Matsumoto, program director,
Cancer Support Community describes the event as “a celebration for those who have survived, an inspiration for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of support for families, and an outreach to the community. On this day, people around the world will unite to recognize cancer survivors, raise awareness of the ongoing challenges cancer survivors face, and, most importantly, celebrate life.”
Attending is free. To register for the celebration, get the Zoom link and the photo/survivorship sign template, email Programs@cancersupportvvsb.org.
