Each year I faithfully clip the announcement of the annual Perseid meteor shower from the newspaper and vow to stay awake to see this spectacle in the August night sky.
An intensely bright, nearly full moon complicated matters this year but since I get off work so late from my night job at The Acorn, I figured Mr. Mooney and his intrusive glare would have packed it in by then, leaving a dark slate of sky against which plummeting meteors could be seen in all their glowing glory.
