Aurora Griffin, the 2009 Oaks Christian School valedictorian, has been named a 2014 Rhodes Scholar. She will attend Oxford University to pursue a Master of Philosophy in theology and Christian ethics with an emphasis in bioethics.

She competed with more than 800 U.S. university students. On Nov. 23, she was among the 32 who were selected as 2014 Rhodes Scholars—one of six from Harvard University and the first OCS alumnus to receive the honor.

While studying the classics at Harvard, Griffin served as president of the Harvard Catholic Student Association, leading a female Catholic fellowship, and developing a volunteer group of Christian pre-med students to serve in a cancer hospital ministry.

Another criterion for her Rhodes Scholarship award was her participation in sports.

While at OCS, Griffin excelled as an internationally competitive equestrian show jumper.
