These students really stand out At Oaks Christian High School, Amanda Gill exudes a passion for learning and campus life.

Amanda graduated with a 4.2 grade point average and was active in athletics, Bible study and Missions, a group of students who help build homes for the needy in Mexico.

Amanda was accepted in the Torrey Honors Institute at Biola University, a program that focuses on classical literature, which suits Amanda just fine since English has always been a favorite subject.

Amanda plans on entering the school’s nursing program in her sophomore year.

The world is open to Lauren Wroblewski, who ranks No. 4 at Oaks Christian High School thanks to her 4.6 grade point average. After settling in at UC Berkeley, Lauren wants to study abroad in Italy and in Spain.

The experience would fit right in with her international relations major and her goal of becoming a diplomat.

Lauren is president of the National Honor Society and a member of her school’s Honor Board.

She got a taste of life beyond the U.S. by working as the leader of the Missions Club, a group of students that builds homes for the needy in Mexico.

Lauren also played water polo team and might even try to join the university team.

Brad may not want to be a doctor, but after he completes his studies in neurobiology at Duke University, you may see him forge new paths in research about the brain.

A National Honor Society student at Oaks Christian High School, Brad ranks number eight in his class. He’s a member of the National Honor Society and the Prefect Board, a branch of student government that serves as liaison between students and faculty.

When he’s not reading about brain function and cognition, Brian competes on his school’s swim team and has a job working with computers and website design.

Brad says he loves the small school atmosphere of Oaks Christian and calls Duke University a “right fit.” Ryan ranks third in his class and earned an impressive 4.66 grade point average during his years at Oaks Christian.

But Ryan can’t decide on a major yet because he says there are just too many interesting subjects to investigate. Maybe he’ll study law, but psychology also intrigues him.

Ryan will undoubtedly be one of those students who manages to do it all—and still play golf. As captain of Oaks Christian’s golf team, Ryan hopes to perfect his game on the college team at UC-San Diego.

He’s been a member of the National Honor Society and the school’s Prefect Board, a group of student governors.

Watch out Alan Greenspan.

Matt Lee wants your job. When Matt leaves Oaks Christian High School he’ll attend Yale University where he plans to learn about becoming an investment banker, followed by a job with the Federal Reserve.

Ranked No. 2 in his class, Matt is the school’s 2005 salutatorian. He earned perfect scores on the SAT and on SAT II math and chemistry.

Matt is member of the Academic Prefect, a branch of student government, and was charged with matching students with tutors through the National Honor Society.

There’s also a lighter side.

Matt helped form the wacky Cereal Club in which students pay to eat cereal together and donate the money to Manna, a food kitchen in Thousand Oaks.
