Oak Park’s top school volunteer honored




HONORABLE—Toni Caruso, center, a longtime volunteer in the Oak Park Unified School District, was honored with the district’s Partners in Education Award at the Jan. 15 school board meeting. Caruso has volunteered for many years at Brookside Elementary School, Medea Creek Middle School and in the community. Pictured with Caruso, from left, are Allen Rosen, OPUSD school board president, OPUSD Superintendent Tony Knight and board members Jennifer von Schneidau and Barbara Laifman. At Brookside, Caruso created the Road to Fitness program and served as the school’s PTA president in 2010. She’s already working on this year’s Big Sunday event scheduled for May 5.
