Oak Park rallies against crime with annual event

Neighborhoods to host potluck get-togethers

About six neighborhood groups in Oak Park will host potluck gettogethers to celebrate the second annual Oak Park National Night Out Against Crime on Sat., Aug. 4.

Oak Park residents who aren’t already attending events in their neighborhoods are welcome to join the potluck block party from 5 to 8 p.m. at 6481 Smoketree Ave.

Residents attending these events can meet with representatives from law enforcement, Fire Station No. 36, Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District, the Oak Park Unified School District Board and the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council.

National Night Out Against Crime is an annual event held across the country in August. The program is designed to strengthen neighborhoods by fostering better communication between communities and the public safety professionals that serve them.
