Kudos to Kymara Brody, her parents, and other families, for bringing to light the need for diversity training in the Oak Park Unified School District.
To hear that white students at Oak Park High School are circulating certificates designed to serve as a “pass to say the N-word,” is disturbing, to say the least. Really?
According to Ms. Brody, when she brought this up to the school board, she was asked “How are kids using the word?” What possible way could they be using it that would be OK?
