Oak Park debates weekend gardening noise

Pro services under scrutiny

The Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council wants to hear how community members feel about establishing guidelines for commercial gardening work in neighborhoods.

The topic will be on the agenda at the Tues., Feb. 28 Oak Park MAC meeting, starting at 7 p.m. at the Oak Park Library, 899 N. Kanan Road.

Residents are welcome to come to the meeting to share their ideas about businesses doing yard work with loud equipment on Saturdays and Sundays, and whether the MAC should establish guidelines for the community to limit or end this activity.

In previous months the Oak Park MAC has debated the topic of restricting gardening services on weekends. MAC members noted complaints about the noise and disruptions to neighborhoods of leaf blowers and other equipment on weekends.

At the Jan. 24 meeting, the MAC discussed establishing voluntary guidelines efforts. The MAC would appreciate community input about this.

The meeting agenda will be posted on Supervisor Linda Parks’ county website on the afternoon of Fri., Feb. 24.
