BRING BINOCULARS— Local naturalists Manju Venkat and Dan Cooper will lead a leisurely bird-watching walk along Medea Creek Feb. 12. Attendees can observe and learn about wintering birds and ask the experts questions. At various times of the year, Oak Park is home to over 150 species of birds, and several dozen spend the winter. Watchers can look for birds like the acorn woodpecker, red-shouldered hawk, western bluebird and Cassin’s kingbird. They can also get tips on wildlife photography and learn how to use iNaturalist to upload photos from the field. Bring binoculars and cameras. Meet at the children’s water splash and restroom area in the second parking lot.

LITTLE EYES ON THE SKIES—Oak Park’s 7-year-old Luke Cimity joins in the fun with his grandmother during a previous birding event.
