Noted musicians tune up for Bogies




Carl Verheyen on guitar, Dave Marotta on bass and Bernie Dressel on drums will present a Guitar Night today at 7:30 p.m. Thurs., July 31 at Bogies at the Westlake Village Inn, 31943 Agoura Road.

They will perform many genres of music including jazz, rock, blues and fusion. Some surprise special guests will also be on hand for this performance.

There is no cover charge.

Verheyen was voted “One of the top 10 Guitar Players in the World” by Guitar Magazine. A member of the British rock group Supertramp since 1985, he is also the creative force behind the Carl Verheyen Band. Verheyen has released 14 CDs.

In addition to his longtime collaborations with Verheyen, Marotta has been a session musician appearing on records with Colbie Caillat, Kenny Loggins, Gino Vannelli, Burt Bacharach, Donna Summer and the Manhattan Transfer.

Dresel is the longtime drummer for the Big Phat Band as well as Brian Setzer, Brian Wilson and Chaka Khan. His work is featured in the movie “Jersey Boys” as well as the soundtrack for the movie “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.”
